Quiz Scoreboard

A free online scoreboard for quiz nights, trivia rounds, classrooms and game show style events. Pick a scoring format, type in the players or teams, and then just tap ○ for a right answer and ✕ for a wrong one — the score counter works out the points, the eliminations and the running leaderboard for you. Nothing to install, nothing to sign up for, and every tap is saved in your browser so an accidental refresh costs you nothing.

Features

Everything a paper score sheet cannot do.

20 scoring formats

Quiz Bowl tossups, powers, negs and bonuses. Wipeout rounds where one wrong answer clears the bank. A 25-panel grid takeover for game show style boards. Japanese buzzer quiz staples such as N-right M-wrong, NewYork, NbyN, Swedish 10, Divide and Attack Survival. And a plain score counter with no winning condition for everything else. Tap ○ or ✕ and the eliminations, byes and rest penalties are worked out for you.

Built-in question timer

Five, ten, twenty and thirty second presets plus any length you like. The display turns red for the last three seconds and a chime plays at zero, so you never need a second timer app open beside the scoreboard.

Autosave — nothing disappears

Every mark is written to your browser immediately. Refresh the page, close the tab, come back after the interval: the board is still there. Keep a separate board for every event and reopen any of them later.

Works offline

Once the page has loaded it keeps working with no connection at all, which matters in a basement bar, a sports hall or a coach. Add it to your home screen and it opens like an app.

Free and unlimited

No account, no advertising, no cap on players, boards or games — where most trivia scoreboard tools stop at two boards or twenty players. Results export as CSV and JSON.

Full-screen display

Press F or the button and the controls fade back while names and scores fill the screen. Plug a laptop into a projector or a large TV and the tool becomes the scoreboard for the whole room.

Live audience view and OBS overlay

Choose Share online and you get a share URL and a QR code. The audience just opens the link — no name, no room code, no join button — and watches the leaderboard update as you score. Add ?obs=1 for a transparent, score-only overlay you can drop straight into an OBS browser source.

Built for a real room

Number keys score the player in that position and Shift plus the number marks a wrong answer, so a host can run a fast round without looking down. Buttons are large enough for thumbs, every action is announced to screen readers, and any score can be edited by hand when a ruling goes the other way.

How it works

Three steps and you are scoring.

Choose a format

Twenty cards to pick from. If you are not sure, take Score Counter for a straightforward trivia night, or Quiz Bowl if you are running tossups and bonuses.

Add the players or teams

Set the format's options, then type in the names. A whole team list can be pasted in at once, one name per line.

Tap ○ and ✕

Right answer, wrong answer. Points, eliminations and the running order are calculated as you go, and undo steps back as far as you need when a ruling changes.

Where people use it

Any room where somebody is keeping score.

Pub quiz and trivia night

Score teams round by round, put the leaderboard on the big screen between rounds, and export the table at the end so next week's host starts from the real numbers.

Quiz bowl practice and matches

Tossups at 10, powers at 15, negs at −5 and a 0/10/20/30 bonus, with the running team score visible to the room rather than trapped in a spreadsheet on the moderator's laptop.

Classrooms and training

Put team scores up where the whole class can see them. The board survives the bell, so a game can run across two lessons.

Game show style events

Run a board of categories with the 25-panel grid, or keep a simple counter for a family game night in the style of the TV shows.

Streaming and recording

Full screen for a screen share, or the transparent OBS overlay to keep the scores on top of your live layout.

Board games and sports

As a general score counter with editable totals it handles house rules, unusual point values and anything else the format list does not cover.

Scoring formats

Not sure which format fits your quiz?

Every format is explained on one page, with the exact maths, the default settings and a link that opens the scoreboard with that format already selected. It covers Quiz Bowl's NAQT and ACF standard scoring, Wipeout rounds for pub quizzes, and the grid takeover format used for game show style boards.

FAQ

Q&A

Is the scoreboard free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no advertising and no paid tier. The number of players, boards and games you can score is unlimited.
Do I need to install an app or create an account?
No. It runs in the browser on a phone, tablet or laptop. If you add it to your home screen it launches like an app, and once it has loaded it keeps working offline, so a basement bar or a school hall with no signal is fine.
Are the scores saved if I refresh or close the tab?
Yes. Every mark is written to your browser straight away, so you can reload the page or close the tab and pick up where you left off. You can keep as many boards as you like, one per event, and export the results as CSV or JSON.
How many players or teams can I keep score for?
From 1 to 30, and the grid rearranges itself to fit. A few formats have a fixed line-up: AQL is two teams of five, and Attack 25 is four players.
Can the audience follow the score on their own devices?
Yes. Choose Share online from the menu and you get a share URL and a QR code. Anyone who opens that URL sees a live, read-only leaderboard with no name to enter and no room to join. Add ?obs=1 to the URL for a transparent overlay you can drop into an OBS browser source. Rooms disappear 24 hours after the last action.
Which quiz and trivia scoring formats are supported?
Twenty of them, including Quiz Bowl scoring for tossups, powers, negs and bonuses, Wipeout for pub quiz rounds, a 25-panel grid takeover for game show style boards, and a plain score counter with no winning condition for everything else. The rest are Japanese buzzer quiz formats such as N-right M-wrong, NewYork, NbyN, Swedish 10 and Attack Survival. All 20 are explained here.
